Most Companies will offer
a disability contract
renewability provisions that
may be guaranteed renewable only or both non-cancelable and
guaranteed renewable.
Guaranteed Renewable Only, the contract will continue to renew for as
long as premiums continue are paid. However, although the policy provision
can not be changed, the carrier does have the option to increase premiums by
state, change occupation class, or change the policy form with notification
to the policy owner.
If
Non-Cancellable Language is added to the guaranteed renewable language,
the carrier is prohibited from changing any of the policy provisions and
cannot increase the premiums. The best protection to the owner is offered
when a disability insurance policy includes both non-cancellable and
guaranteed renewable language.
